How to Forward Your Optus Calls to Your AI Receptionist — Permanently

    7 Feb 20266 min read

You want every missed call to go to your AI receptionist — not to voicemail, not to silence. This guide shows you how to set up permanent, network-level call forwarding on Optus so it works no matter what phone you use, even if you swap SIMs or factory reset.

We'll walk through three methods: the My Optus app, the Optus online portal, and calling Optus support to do it for you. Pick whichever suits you best.

Works on Optus postpaid, prepaid, and business plans.

Which Type of Forwarding Do You Need?

Optus supports four types of call forwarding. Here's the breakdown:

Forward When No Answer ★ Recommended

Your phone rings for 15–25 seconds first. If you don't pick up, the call goes to TransferToAI. Best for most tradies — you still get a chance to answer, but nothing falls through the cracks.

    Forward When Busy

Already on a call? The next caller goes to TransferToAI automatically, instead of getting an engaged tone.

    Forward When Unreachable

Phone off or out of range? Common on building sites. Calls go straight to TransferToAI.

    Forward All Calls

Every incoming call goes directly to TransferToAI. Your phone doesn't ring. Perfect for after-hours or holidays.

    Our Recommendation

Enable "No Answer" + "Busy" + "Unreachable" for full coverage. Your phone rings first, but if you can't answer for any reason, TransferToAI has your back.

Method 1: My Optus App (Easiest)

The My Optus app is free to download and gives you full control of your call forwarding settings.

    1

    Open the My Optus App

Download My Optus from the App Store or Google Play if you haven't already. Log in with your Optus account.

    2

    Go to Your Services

Tap on your mobile service. Navigate to AccountServices or look for Call Settings.

    3

    Find Call Forwarding

Look for Call Forwarding or Divert Calls. Tap into it to see the different forwarding options.

    4

    Enter Your TransferToAI Number

For each forwarding type (we recommend No Answer, Busy, and Unreachable), toggle it on and enter your TransferToAI number.

    Important

Use the full number with country code: +61 4XX XXX XXX. Find your TransferToAI number in your dashboard under Settings.

    5

    Save and Test

Save your settings. Test by calling your number from another phone — let it ring. TransferToAI should pick up after 15–20 seconds.

    Method 2: Optus Online Portal

Prefer a bigger screen? You can manage forwarding from the Optus website.

    1. 1Go to my.optus.com.au and log in.
    2. 2Select your mobile service from the dashboard.
    3. 3Navigate to ServicesCall Forwarding or Divert Calls.
    4. 4Enable No Answer, Busy, and Unreachable forwarding.
    5. 5Enter your TransferToAI number for each. Save.

Method 3: Call Optus and Get Them to Do It

Don't want to fiddle with apps? Call Optus and they'll configure it for you over the phone. It's free.

    Personal Mobile

Call 133 937 from any phone

    Business Account

    Call 133 343 (Optus Business)

    What to say

"I need to set up call forwarding. When I don't answer, when I'm busy, and when my phone is off, I want calls forwarded to [your TransferToAI number]."

    Optus Business Accounts & Landlines

Running an Optus business account or have a business landline? You have a couple of options:

    My Optus Business Portal

Log in at mybusiness.optus.com.au. Navigate to your service and manage call forwarding from there. Business accounts have the same forwarding types as personal.

    Call Optus Business Support

Call 133 343. They can set up forwarding on your mobile lines and business landlines. For landlines, forwarding must be configured through the portal or by calling support — it can't be done via dialer codes.

    Quick Alternative: Dialer Codes

For mobile only, you can dial these standard GSM codes directly in your phone app. They configure forwarding at the network level — it persists across phones and resets.

Replace NUMBER with your TransferToAI number (e.g. +61480XXXXXX).

    TypeEnableDisable
    No Answer ★**61*NUMBER###61#
    Busy**67*NUMBER###67#
    Unreachable**62*NUMBER###62#
    All Calls*21*NUMBER##21#

Dial each code and press Call. You'll hear a confirmation tone.

    How to Turn Off Forwarding

Reverse the process using whichever method you prefer:

    • My Optus app — go back to Call Forwarding and toggle each type off.
    • Online portal — disable forwarding from my.optus.com.au.
    • Call Optus — ask them to remove all forwarding.
    • Dialer code — dial ##002# to cancel ALL forwarding at once.

    Troubleshooting

❌ Call forwarding option not showing in the app

Update the My Optus app to the latest version. If it still doesn't show, call 133 937 and ask them to enable the forwarding feature on your account. Some older plans need it activated.

❌ Calls going to Optus voicemail instead of TransferToAI

Optus voicemail can intercept calls before forwarding kicks in. You'll need to disable Optus voicemail first. Call 133 937 or dial ##002# to clear all forwarding including voicemail, then re-set your forwarding to TransferToAI.

❌ "Number not valid" when entering TransferToAI number

Make sure you include the country code (+61) and the full mobile number. Don't include spaces or dashes in some systems.

    ❌ Prepaid balance issue

Optus prepaid needs active credit for forwarding to work. Top up and try again. The forwarding itself doesn't cost extra, but the account must be active.

Forward Your Optus Calls. Never Miss a Lead.

Set up forwarding once and TransferToAI handles every call you can't answer — 24/7, in a real Aussie accent.
